The University of Cauca, Santander, and the democratic character of Colombia

Abstract

In this disertation the role of Santander is found as the main and first protagonist in the colombian education as by the foundation of schools and universities as the defense in favor of modernization, the freedom of conscience, democracy and the fight against militarism. In this context, Cauca university excels as one of the santanderin universities that defends the republican life.
