The renewal movement of teacher Germán Arciniegas

Abstract

The present article is about the Colombian student renovation movement between 1920 and 1930 in favor of the reforms in higher education, seen within the context of the liberalization movements in Latin America by the antique elite possessed by conservative ideas. Within them irrupted student movements as an expression of the changes in the higher education system.

These movements fought for a better university in terms of their social needs, university autonomy and an integration of the Latin American universities. In the Colombian case, the Student Renovation Movement lead buy German Arciniegas -was able to offer and cohesion academic and reglamentary reforms of the new challenges for the Colombian University towards an integral formation of the person as service to the nation. Some of their proposals gave the basis of the instructionist university reforms develop in the liberal hegemony (1930-1946).
