The formation of humanism in colombian higher education: the case of the Papal Bolivariana University in Bucaramanga

Abstract

The purpose of this research is the identification of the “imaginary entity” influencing Humanistic formation in the educational community of the Papal Bolivariana University in Bucaramanga. To that end, a methodology was designed that combined qualitative and quantitative analysis of a type that responded to the implementation of cross-categories by means of which the necessary information was collected in an effort to identify the imaginary entity. The results of the investigation showed that, although Humanistic formation is embraced inside of the University, there is little consensus or evidence on what constitutes the channels existent for its implementation. The wagers of Higher Education in Colombia call for inspired discourse – the study reflects, but finds it difficult to gear that discourse to institutional dynamics in order to be experienced through the exercise of teaching-learning.
