A sense of justice and rights in the context of the discovery of America and the Declaration of Human Rights

The purpose of this article is to reflect on two important historical events: the discovery of America in 1492 and the Declaration of Human Rights and the rights of the Citizen in 1789. The above events are methodologically analyzed from an interdisciplinary perspective, where philosophy, history, rights and the oral histories of native communities are woven together like discursive threads to investigate “the rights of other’s”. The article concludes that the “rights of other’s” is a fight for legal and linguistic plurality, which has been denied and hidden within the historic processes of the universalization of law and conformity of state.
