The colombian education in the XXI century

Abstract

This article presents the situation of inequality, regression, and underdevelopment of our country in a worldwide context, and considers education as the only way to promote change that will further sustainable development and generate well-being for the community at large. The university and its great changes are highlighted in the general statements presented in an international lecture on tertiary education held in Paris in 1988. With regard o Colombian education, political willingness is the diagnosis suggested to implement and achieve the desired transformation for Colombia. Moreover, Colombia’s situation is analyzed by ASCUN and in documents such as “Colombia at the edge of opportunity” “Education: the agenda of the 21st century”, and in a brief presentation of the educational revolution presented by the recurrent government.
